Clarity Is Where It's At

leadership productivity teams May 01, 2021

I can't stress enough how important it is to have a clear vision of what you want in your practice. It's a road map to get you and your team to your dreams! Today I've got a short and sweet post for you, but don't undermine its size with its value.

In 2012 I was on the brink of a BURNOUT. You know, where you feel like your motivation and determination are on a permanent vacation? Before I threw my hands up and quit my dreams of having the BEST practice, I sat down and LITERALLY wrote out what I envisioned my practice to be like.

I mean, I wrote out EVERYTHING - what kind of environment I wanted, what characteristics I wanted my employees to have, what I wanted my patients to see and feel. EVERYTHING.

And guess what?

It brought me CLARITY. I was able to read over and over exactly what I dreamed of, and the best part is, so did my staff. I had a 2 day meeting so that I could be CLEAR as to what I expected from my staff and how I wanted my practice to run.

It made SUCH a difference. I mean, I was so frustrated at my team, and even considered possibly getting a new team.

However, I eventually realized the real issue was that I never told them what I wanted or what I was expecting from them. I mean, how would they ever know that I needed things to change if I did't tell them why and what needed to change?

They aren't mind-readers.

So my advice today is: if you are feeling frustrated with your team or practice, before you throw in the towel, WRITE IT OUT. Make sure that YOU have a clear understanding of what you want for your practice. And then, TELL YOUR TEAM. Sit down with them and make sure they are on the same page. They aren't ever going to know what you want from them if you don't take the time to tell them.

Give your team the chance to show you that they are truly the KEY to making your dreams come true.
